1) семинолыИндейское племя, возникшее в первой половине XVIII в. после отделения от племени крик [ Creek] той его части, которая жила на юго-западе Джорджии и впоследствии переселилась на север Флориды; к нему примкнули части племен хитчити [Hitchiti], ямаси [ Yamasee], алабама [ Alabama II] и ючи [ Yuchi] - всего около 6 тыс. человек (1815). Оказали ожесточенное сопротивление колонизаторам. В середине XIX в. большинство семинолов были насильственно переселены в Индейскую территорию [ Indian Territory]. В 1990 их было более 15 тыс. человек, причем свыше 7 тыс. из них проживают компактно на месте бывшей резервации в Оклахоме, где они владеют 144 кв. км земель; сохраняют некоторые традиционные обряды, пляски, игры в мяч, а также язык [Muskogee]. Являются одним из "пяти цивилизованных племен (Оклахомы)" [ Five Civilized Tribes]. Остальные проживают в резервациях Биг-Сайпресс [ Big Cypress Reservation], Брайтон [ Brighton Reservation], Холливуд [Hollywood Reservation], в Индейской резервации штата Флорида [Florida State Indian Reservation] и к югу от нее. В 1957 флоридские семинолы образовали "племя семинолов Флориды" [Seminole Tribe of Florida], а в 1961 - "племя микасуки индейцев Флориды" [Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida].
